Abstract: 

Manipulation of public opinion over the Internet has become a critical problem across the globe. Yet, due to its inherently secret and ambiguous nature, we still lack understanding of the degree and strategy of such manipulation. This talk will present how we applied data science to identify and quantify public opinion manipulation in the largest Korean online news portal sites. (This talk will be in Korean.)

Bio:

Jiwan Jeong is a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Political Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working on computational social science projects. He received Ph.D in Computer Science from KAIST in 2021, advised by Sue Moon and Meeyoung Cha. He also holds M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from KAIST.
